Located in the south of the island, very close to the Tenerife South Airport and next to Amarilla Golf, Golf del Sur has 27 holes divided into 3 courses of 9 holes each; north course, links and south course, being the last one the less interesting. Despite being close to Amarilla Golf, it has many differences with it, although they share the same danger: the wind.
The strong prevailing wind in the area makes a field that could be described as relatively simple become a field that can even be unsettling at times.

The fairways are quite undulating, so seemingly good shots can easily end up in the rough. There are also several blind shots along the course, making it difficult to get a right strategy the first time you play this tricky course. There are also several high tees, therefore very exposed to the influence of the wind.

Most fairways are either flanked by water hazard or out of bounds. Although they are relatively wide, the presence of strong wind makes the obstacles come into play a lot, so it is advisable to be conservative from the tee. One of the characteristics that most identify Golf del Sur is it's black sand of volcanic origin, present all around the course and also in many of its bunkers.

The greens are not too complicated to read, but many of them stand out because of their large size, so it is important not to be too far from the flag to avoid 3 putts. But equally, having some very clear and well marked falls, being right on the flag shots will help us to score quite a few strokes below our handicap if we are fine with the putter.

In short, a course that in mild wind conditions can be classified as relatively simple, but when it blows hard it becomes a fairly complicated course, where strategy and conservative play will be keys to make a close result to our handicap.
